Statarkers a Blank Statamic Theme

Statamic already comes with a theme called denali pre-installed which I used to learn the basics and get going, what I thought would be even more useful would be a theme which had very little styling and gave you the standard blog and page templates needed to get going. These templates could be marked up with user notes and would form the base of most regular site builds.

Statarkers Is Born

When I first got into building websites using Wordpress I had come across the wonderful Starkers theme from Elliot Jay Stocks. Starkers is, in the words of its creator:

Starkers is a bare-bones WordPress theme created to act as a starting point for the theme designer. Free of all style, presentational elements, and non-semantic markup, Starkers is the perfect “blank slate” for all your WordPress projects.

So I thought Statamic + Starkers = Statarkers. Yeah I know it’s a bit of a mouthful but kinda has a nice ring to it. So I have put together the first version of Statarkers and posted it up on github for everyone to use. Hopefully once I get some feedback and as I use it more in production I can improve on what is there, but it’s a good start. Please feel free to fork it, use it for your theme building, and let me know what you think.
